About this project

Solo execution project for IMCINE/CONACULTA — an iPad app and web platform featuring animated short films (cineminutos) about Mexican Independence and Revolution. Unlike the other CONACULTA projects where I directed a team, I handled this one entirely myself: wireframes, graphic proposals, HTML mockups, and jQuery interactions. A developer then mounted my HTML prototype directly into the final iPad app. The project covered two historical periods — Independence and Revolution — with sections for film catalog, gallery, newspaper, cubicuates, press, and making-of content.

Key Features

  • Solo execution: wireframes, graphic proposals, HTML mockup, and jQuery interactions — all by one person
  • HTML prototype built to production quality, directly mounted into iPad app by developer
  • Web platform and iPad app covering Mexican Independence and Revolution animated shorts
  • Cineminutos format: short animated films making history accessible and entertaining
  • Sections: Independencia, Revolución, Galería, Catálogo, Periódico, Cubicuates, Prensa, Making Of
  • iPad app with video playback optimization for animated content
  • Elaborate period-authentic visual design: wood texture, vintage typography, illustrated characters
  • Federal government cultural education project (CONACULTA/IMCINE)

Solo Execution

While the other CONACULTA projects had me directing a team of 8 designers, this one I handled entirely on my own. From wireframes to graphic proposals to a fully interactive HTML prototype with jQuery animations — every piece of the design and frontend work was mine. The developer took my HTML mockup and mounted it directly into the iPad app.

That level of handoff only works when the prototype is clean enough to build on directly. It was.

The Product

"Suertes, Humores y Pequeñas Historias de la Independencia y la Revolución" was an iPad app and web platform featuring animated short films — cineminutos — telling stories from two defining periods of Mexican history. Each short had a full technical sheet, synopsis, and related film recommendations.

The platform was organized into two historical periods (Independencia and Revolución) with additional sections for Galería, Catálogo, Periódico, Cubicuates, Prensa, and Making Of — giving users multiple ways to explore the content beyond just watching the films.

Visual Design

The design language was deliberately period-authentic: wood textures, vintage typography, hand-illustrated historical characters. The visual identity had to feel consistent with the animated shorts while being functional as a navigation interface. Every screen balanced editorial richness with usability — a constraint that required constant design judgment.

Results & Impact

  • Solo delivery: wireframes through interactive HTML prototype, all by one person
  • HTML prototype clean enough to be mounted directly into iPad app by developer
  • iPad app and web platform for federal cultural education (CONACULTA/IMCINE)
  • Cineminutos covering Mexican Independence and Revolution
  • Period-authentic visual design with illustrated characters and vintage typography
